Managed bids application process

Funder constraints

Funders are increasingly placing constraints on the number, or type, of proposals that may be submitted from a given institution, or at a minimum are placing an expectation upon institutions to conduct robust internal peer review pre-submission.

In addition, there are funding schemes which require the University to make a strategic decision to support the development of a small number of high quality submissions.

In response to this, the University has put in place an internal ‘Managed University Bids’ process to centrally review and manage the number of submissions. The internal process, co-ordinated by the Research Development team, will be defined on the basis of the specific call guidelines and will be communicated to Deans, Heads of Schools, Institute Directors and Directors of Research via email, as appropriate.

If you become aware of a call that has placed a restriction on the number of submissions, and you have not been provided with details of an internal process, please contact your Research Development Manager
