Career development

At Queen’s University Belfast we pride ourselves on supporting our research staff to develop their strengths. Support is available to you from your School or Institute, but also from across the Directorates.

Funding your development

In addition to the resources available within your Faculty or School, there are a number of funds available to support your professional growth. You should refer to the individual guidance for each fund to determine your eligibility.

We have compiled a number of these below for ease of access:

Organisational Development

Organisational Development, within People and Culture, is responsible for building organisational capability, including supporting the career development of early career researchers.  The Staff Learning and Development service provides a range of career development activities, including workshops, online learning and supporting mentoring schemes.  Of particular relevance is the Developing Your Research Career Programme.  During this programme research staff have the time to review and plan their career development, whilst also gaining knowledge of CV writing and preparing for interviews.  Participants also have access to 1-2-1 career coaching.
